I’ve always had a thing for make up. Ever since I saved up and bought my first high end lip colour at around fourteen (it was dark purple!) I’ve been hooked. It was only natural that I was going to venture into the world of cosmetics in my work life too.
‘But you don’t wear much make up yourself’ is an observation I hear a lot. It’s not about that for me, throughout my career in cosmetics I was always told ‘you’re doing great, you’re sales are good, but you need to wear just a little bit more make up’, especially when I was in management and settle an example to my team. I always ended up rebelling in a way though, as it was just not ‘me’ to wear so much. I left that to the younger, more funky members of my team and it worked for us. We all had a completely different list of ‘top customers’ for that reason.
Many of us are still looking for the perfect foundation, for me it’s always been the perfect nude lipstick I’ve been searching for. With my pale and pinky skin tone, it’s always been on the difficult side to find that exact match; the one you want to repurchase again and again.
To celebrate 20 years of organic beauty, Green People, a longstanding favourite brand of ours have recently launched a new special edition Velvet Matte Lipstick called ‘Damask Rose’, an organic timeless nude rose shade which is said to suit all skin tones. A big claim you might say…
Well I’ve been trying out this colour along with the Enhance and Enrich Lip Primer and I must say it’s a really lovely shade. Not too pinky, not too beige. The hint of rose in the colour really enhances the natural lip tone, which is just what I’m looking for these days. To enhance your natural lip tone by a couple of shades, either brighter, darker is the perfect way to lift your complexion and will always go with every outfit. It’s great to now have one ‘go to’ everyday shade in my handbag.
I’ve found it comfortable to wear too, which is something I always struggle with. Lipsticks after a few days of wear leave my lips really dry and flaky but with this duo (enriched with vitamin E, sustainable beeswax and organic Carnauba wax) my lips have felt completely hydrated. On it’s own the colour payoff is really good, matte, lovely and dense but not heavy. With the primer, you get to add more of a soft sheen.
The lip primer is lovely, colourless, really hydrating and not in any way tacky. It’s a really good way to add a little natural sheen to the matte lip colour but keep the longevity of the colour. Again, Carnauba and Beeswax help to prevent the lip colour from bleeding.
