Since the big move at the end of last month, I’ve had so many lovely messages, comments and well wishes for our new home. I can definitely say we’re settling in really well here and while there’s still so much to do here, it’s all fun stuff like choosing curtains and blinds and other soft furnishings. Totally my department and a huge passion of mine too, so I’m having a great time searching the internet for lovely things to fill our house with.
The best thing has been how well Emilia has settled in. Apart from one or two rough nights at the beginning, she’s taken everything in her stride and loves her new house. She’s helped me unpack and tidy and clean and generally loves getting stuck in.
One of the main things I’ve noticed moving to the North East is just how friendly everyone is. The pace of life seems a lot slower and so we’re really enjoying slowing things down as a family as that’s exactly what we we’re looking to do.
So chilled out were we during the move that we even stayed at Center Parcs for a few days right in the middle of things. Did I spend the time thinking about what we could be getting done? Did I heck, we spent our time in the sand, at the playground, talking to ducks and geese and eating out.
As a family we love our little trips out. Exploring our new surroundings is really exciting for us and the hottest day of the year so far was a fantastic day to head for the beach! I’d heard that the beaches of the North East were pretty lovely, before our move we watched Michel Roux Jr. having a great time at Tynemouth beach and before he said where he was, I honestly thought he was abroad!
Tynemouth in reality did not disappoint. We recently received some beautiful and colourful coats from the Spring 2017b collection by Lighthouse Clothing, a uniquely and stylish outwear brand who specialise in waterproof clothing with a nod to all things nautical and so we took them on our day out too – perfect for exploring the beach and a great cover up from that North Sea breeze.
We spent our time chilling out on the rocks and taking in the sea air, along with the historic buildings surrounding us, it’s not all beach here and there’s plenty to more explore. There was a really picturesque street nearby full of relaxed bars and shops, full of families sitting outside soaking up the sun and people watching. We’ll definitely be back to explore more and we’ve found so many lovely walks and with a bluebell wood only a stones throw away, we have a lot of chilling out to do on our weekends, there are definite plans for picnicking and walking and taking the rest of the nature of Spring.
My wardrobe usually comprises of greys, whites, beiges and black but I decided to go bold and chose the Rayna Waterproof Hooded Parka Jacket in Poppy a really striking but wearable colour that fits in with my whole wardrobe. I love the features of this jacket, from the nautical antique brass toggles that cinch the waist to the inner dotty print and also the inner pocket which is the perfect size for a mobile phone!
It’s so comfortable to wear, easy to throw on (it’s always at the top of my coat pile on the coat rack) and will be fantastic on all the country walks we love to go on, as well as beachy days out.
Emilia loves her Blossom Waterproof Coat. Her wardrobe has always been full of colour and her spring wardrobe is no exception. The brightly coloured hues of this waterproof and windproof coat fits in perfectly with everything that Emilia loves, flowers, colour and cheeky fun. It’s perfect for all weathers and our daily adventures which now entail heading into the forest, playing in mud kitchens and babyccinos.
I look forward to showing you what we get up to as a family our new area and as soon as we’re looking a little more ship shape in the house, I’ll start adding some interior updates too!
