Summer is my favourite season, yep, right after Autumn, Winter and Spring! Apologies now, I’m one of those people who doesn’t fare too well during the hot months. With naturally blonde hair and pale skin that burns easily before returning to white, I’ve always been a little in envy of those who tan easily. I’ve even been known to (jokingly) tell Rich to ‘go away’ when he comes home from his twenty minute walk to and from work with a tan he got that day.
When it comes to Emilia’s tanning ability, I’m not yet sure if she has my pale and pasty skin tone or Rich’s ‘look at the sun and tan instantly’ glow.
What I do know is she has huuuge sensitivity to sun care. Meaning I simply cannot wander into the chemist and buy off the shelf. Nor would I want to having read some of the ingredients on the back of the bottles of sun care aimed at kids (in my ‘mum research’). I mean alcohol? Seriously? On my kid’s face? Not a chance…
I wrote a few weeks back about a blunder I had when I ran out of supplies of our beloved Green People Organic Children Sun Lotion SPF 30. Needing sun cream that day and temporarily forgetting the reactions we had last year I reached for a travel size of one of the UK’s best selling suncare brands in my local supermarket and ten minutes later, Emilia’s face was patchy, dry, hot, itchy and beetroot in colour! There’s more in a blog post (HERE) about how Green People came to our rescue with one of their wonderful soothing balms.
Anyway back to sun cream. Desperate to get my hands on some their organic sun cream loveliness, they were kind enough to send one over to us to review once they were back in stock (there’s high demand for this product each year). Having used this sun cream since Emilia was a young baby, I knew I could trust this range not to cause reaction or the usual prickly heat Emilia suffers with.
A little detail about the product…First and foremost it offers high factor sun protection at SPF30 and 97% UVB protection (remember B for burning, A for ageing (I used to work in cosmetics!)). Green People have also written about why you don’t need to go higher than that.
It’s absolutely brilliant for those sensitive little ones like Emilia who are so prone to prickly heat as although it’s water repellent, it’s also non pore blocking.
You can see where you’re applying it, Miss Independent likes applying it herself so it’s great that I can see where she’s popped it and so I can then add to it.
