With lovely summer weather coming our way of late it’s been time to think about Emilia’s summer wardrobe. Already there’s been lots of playtime in the garden, forest walks, water play and days at the nearby beach. So what do I look for in clothing for Emilia on these long summer days? I look for longevity. Items that are going to survive more than a few washes without losing shape or shrinkage and stay looking as much like new as possible. Easy care, anything that requires more than machine washing gets put back on the shelf. I look for pieces that have a feminine touch to them but not too girly, she loves nothing more than something pink but say, with a dinosaur on the front. That’s why, for us, Polarn O. Pyret ticks all the boxes. And always has done! We’ve bought many times from their gorgeous range, after seeing many of Emilia’s close friends in their coats and outerwear and hearing those all important testimonies from the other Mums, because if the other Mums love them, then you know they’re worth shouting about!
So who are Polarn O. Pyret? They are the leading children’s wear brand in Sweden. Associated with a stripe which we love in our clothes (who remembers my Breton stripe obsession during my pregnancy?), their main focus is on quality. The kind of outdoor wear that ensures kids can play outside as much as possible whatever the weather. Great with us, Emilia is a real outdoorsy girl and we’ve always made a point of dressing well for the weather and going out no matter what the forecast may be. Importantly they are eco friendly, mainly organic quality clothes that can be handed down in the name of true sustainable fashion and value for money.
When Polarn O. Pyret got in touch to send us some pieces from their Spring/Summer 2018 range, we couldn’t wait to see what Emilia would be wearing. I trusted them totally to send out items that she would love and they did not disappoint. I mean, a top with roller skates on? Amazing!
What’s more is that also do amazing offers and they currently have 3 for 2 on all t-shirts, shorts, leggings and dresses!
The Happy Heart Print Kids Spin Dress is a really sweet white dress with heart detail and faces on. Emilia loves looking at the different colours and faces and picking out her favourite one! The fabric is soft, thin enough for Summer wear but durable and long wearing. We’ve had this a little while now and it has had many washes, is staying white and in shape and fits her well so order true to size.
It’s a simple but pretty design which can easily be popped over the head, no buttons for her to contend with. I think the only thing I would mention is that we had to snip a little cut into the neck as it was too narrow to fit over her head. Nothing to worry about though as her hair covers that so it’s not at all noticeable on wear.
The Ditsy Floral Kids Dress is perfect on these hot summery days we’ve been enjoying here in the UK! With a strap detail and pretty flowers, this dress is the perfect way for Emilia to keep cool, and the design is once again easy to wear, easy to play in, but looks really sweet too. It would make the perfect dress for holidays, beachwear etc. Again it’s easy for her to put on, fits well but with plenty of room and has been brilliant for her to play in. It’s in no way restrictive, and she’s been able to play, scoot and generally run around comfortably in this, all whilst looking the part!
On cooler days she’s been wearing the Spots and Stripes Breton Kids Top. Made from really good quality material that’s thin to the touch but really durable, it’s been a great staple item that we’ve teamed with jeans, leggings and shorts for every day wear.
It’s feminine but not too girly, which suits Emilia perfectly and is something she’ll definitely be getting plenty of wear out over these summer months.
The Heart Print Kids Jumpsuit is the sweetest jumpsuit, with little hearts throughout it’s design. It’s great once again for playing in, and whilst I’ll always be totally honest here, I had reservations that although Emilia is obviously fully potty trained and has been for some time, that she would maybe find it difficult to manoeuvre the ‘onesie’ design when it came to that crucial time of getting to the toilet. But with this design, the shoulders literally pull down and she can easily get back into it when she’s finished. So no problems there.
The fabric is airy and great for summer weather, and I love the shoulder frill details. It’s a little on the big side for her in length at the moment, but it’s great to know we have a summer staple item that she will grow into over the summer holidays!
I think the Roller Skate Kids Top may be my favourite of them all, she absolutely loves it when she knows I’ve picked this out for her to wear and tells everyone that she has roller skates on her top! It’s a loose vest design which keeps her feeling cool whilst looking super cool, and goes with everything from jeans, to skirts to shorts. I love that this range suits so many different items of clothing so we can really mix and match what she wears it with, and pop on a little cardigan or zip up jacket over the top.
I really love the Polarn O. Pyret range and will be using it for many years to come, for both Emilia and Benjamin. They have such amazing and regular offers which I can’t wait to take advantage of and free standard delivery over £30 which is really a reasonable price point for free delivery.
