I’ve been a fan of using white noise since Emilia came along. For her, the sound that soothed her was the hairdryer sound on a white noise app which I swore by. We used it to settle her into her own room when she was old enough and continued using it right through until she was about two. Emilia always slept pretty well and I would tell anyone who would listen to download this app!
However, the app came with its disadvantages. I wasn’t particularly happy using my phone too close to Emilia when we were out and about, I couldn’t use my phone when I wanted to as she’d wake up when parted with her beloved white noise, and if the phone rang it was game over!
Anyway, moving on to when Benjamin came along a few weeks ago, one of the first things I did in the hospital was download the app again! Benjamin took to the continuous ‘shhh, shhh, shhh’ noise immediately and has had well rested sleep ever since. But then the old issues arose with using my phone.
Cue the lifesavers that are My Hummy getting in touch to see if I’d like to review one of their Snoozy white noise toys! I’d heard of their range of wonder toys before, but having tried and not got on with a similar toy with Emilia I’ll be honest and say I had my doubts as to whether it could work for us. Well, those doubts were totally unfounded as Benjamin loves his new Snoozy, he’s even happy to trade his ‘shh shh shh’ for the amniotic fluid and heartbeat sound!
My Hummy are a brand who focus on giving parents back their sleep (or at least some time with a hot coffee!) with these wonderful white noise toys. Toys that are suitable from birth and can also be played with, they attach onto cribs and cots for bedtime sleep and prams and carseats for soothing on the go (which is how we’ll use ours mainly, I’ll definitely be ordering one of the Teddy Bear versions to keep upstairs for night time use!).
In the zip pocket of the Snoozy is where a little electronic device lives which emits the sounds of either rainfall, a hairdryer, vacuum cleaner, ocean waves and amniotic fluid with heartbeat. Babies are used to noise in the womb and I know from experience that Benjamin will nap better with some kind of background noise. If ever I forget to put on the My Hummy the silence seems to wake him up and cause him to become unsettled.
If you don’t want the noise to be on a continuous cycle, with the Snoozy the sound fades after 60 minutes. It also has a ‘Smart Sleep Sensor’ which is where the device will begin again when it detects background noise or sound from the baby. Very clever! You can also turn the Snoozy on and off and control the volume without removing the device which is handy.
If needed, it is also available with Bluetooth connectivity with the App Models. This means you can use your phone to control volume, duration, switch on and off, there’s even an alarm mode which sends notifications to your phone when the baby starts to whimper which is very handy, I’m pretty much always near Benjamin or at the very least in the next room whilst he’s napping but it’d be very good to go for this option should you need it.
The Snoozy is a really lovely product, it absolutely does what it says whilst being a really sweet toy to play with too. I can see us getting lots of use out of it and it becoming one of Benjamin’s go to toys. I must add it’s also machine washable but you need remove the electronic device prior.
One of the first things I checked before agreeing to review is that it’s completely safe to use, it’s one of my absolute main concerns that anything that I use with either Benjamin or Emilia has been tested rigorously and to the highest standards. You can be rest assured that the My Hummy range is thoroughly tested and conforms to all EU standards. So many of the products I’ve been reviewing of late have gone on to win awards with Made for Mums and the My Hummy is no exception having won two of these prestigious awards which makes me so proud and reassured that other people are loving the things I’m loving too!
